Apple has recently upgraded their MacBook pro line without really letting anyone know. The new and improved 13 inch and 15 inch Retina display laptops are now offering faster Intel Haswell processors than before and even more RAM. If you are looking to get more for your money, now would be the time to strike because despite the upgrades, the prices haven’t really changed.
Just like before, the 13 inch MacBook pro is still starting at $1,299. The difference is that now you get a 2.6GHz Core i5 CPU and 8GB of RAM to compliment the 128GB of internal storage space. The next model up costs $200 more and you get everything that the first one has plus 256GB of storage space. The top end configuration of the 13 inch models costs $1,799 and you get an even better 2.8GHz processor and 512GB of storage.
Apple also decided to cut down the price on the standard 13 inch MacBook Pro which doesn’t have Retina display. Now it only costs $1,099 but it is still widely considered one of the worst deals on the market considering the specs aren’t any better and the fact that you can get the thinner MacBook Air that has much faster flash memory and last a lot longer on a charge for $100 less. Seems like a no-brainer to me, and I pitty the fool who buys one.
If you are looking for a little bit bigger screen, there are also some nice upgrades to the 15 inch MacBook Pro models. For the standard version starting at $1,999 you now get 16GB of RAM, a powerful 2.2GHz quad core Intel CPU, and 256GB of internal storage.
This next one is the craziest upgrade. The top end 15 inch MacBook Pro model actually costs $100 dollars less than the last version and is also significantly better. It costs $2,499 and now comes with 512GB of storage, Intel’s Iris graphics and Nvidia’s GeForce GT 750M GPU with 2GB of video memory.

Right now Apple is giving us the perfect chance to upgrade our older Mac computers. Not only with all these upgrades and price cuts, but also with OS X Yosemite coming out pretty soon. Everyone has always complained that Apple gives you way less of a product for way more money, but it looks like they are actually stepping up their game a little bit. That is really nice of them, considering they didn’t have to do it. They could probably charge $5,000 for an entry level YouTube machine with a keyboard and every girl in high school and every 20-something male with a beard would still buy one.
