If you’re an event planner, and you’re renting laptops, you probably want to get one type of laptop for your event attendees to use. Here are three reasons for why you should get identical laptop rentals if you are an event planner, and a few things to consider when getting a laptop rental for your next event.
#1 Aesthetic Appeal
If you are running an event, you probably want everything to look uniform and professional. If all of your attendees are using Macbook Pros except for Gary, who is using a Lenovo Thinkpad in the corner of the room, there will be a reasonable sense of inequality amongst your attendees. It should also be noted that some of your attendees may criticize your selection of laptops if screen sizes do not match, or if your laptops vary in color.
Renting anything other than matching technology for your attendees can quickly become a lose-lose scenario. By getting a matching laptop rental, you avoid the risk of looking like you ordered some of your technology at the last minute, and maintain the respect of your clients.
#2 Matching Laptops, Matching Functionality
The PC world is a trove of varied specifications. Meaning that if you don’t book uniform, someone will be trailing behind the pack. When ordering laptops, booking uniform makes sure that none of your event attendees get shorted in storage space, RAM, processing speeds, and other capabilities such as CD/DVD drives.
If you are getting laptop rentals for training courses, it is very important to order matching devices. If you have a large class running a company program, and some of your attendees have different computers, there will be variation in computer processing speeds. This variation can and will slow down the entire training session if it is allowed to exist.
#3 Operating with Multiple Operating Systems
Another thing to consider when booking your laptops is the operating system. It is important that you get a specific type of laptop, because Mac devices may not be capable of running programs that Windows devices can, and vice versa. Let this be a warning to all you daring event planners, if you do mix and match operating systems, you may have several, or many, attendees incapable of running event essential programs.
In closing, if you want to maintain and develop professionalism, don’t mix and match different makes and models of laptops, unless you have a specific reason for doing so. Always consider aesthetic appeal, machine capability, and the operating system of the devices you are renting when planning your event.

Another reason why I prefer same laptops and same OS on events and lectures is the functionality. Especially when you want to tell your audience to use Function keys to reduced brightness or enabling wifi or bluetooth. It’s really hard to find any other solution when you ask for your listeners to complete a specific task and every laptop has a different procedure to achieve. Uniformity of functionality comes only with same laptop and same operating system.
That’s a great post on renting laptops. I really liked the concept of matching laptops, matching functionality
