Whether you are in need of a laptop, with keyboard attached, or just a lightweight tablet to play games on, there are many options nowadays to get the best of both worlds. Sony believes they have created the unrivaled, best of both worlds hybrid, with their new “Vaio Flip.”
This device is much more sleek, and convincing in both of it’s forms than its competition. In its closed position, it appears to be just a laptop with a seam across the middle, it opens just like a normal laptop but a small switch on the side of the screen allows the device to fold over onto itself with the screen facing upwards like a tablet.
Sony is so confident in this design that they are releasing the Vaio Flip in 3 different sizes, 13, 14, and 15 inch models, which all include up to a Intel Core i7 chip. The Flip will range anywhere from 2.6 to 4.6 pounds in weight, and will have the option of a hybrid or solid state hard drive, and up to 2GB of Nvidia Graphics.
From the looks of it, this seems to be the best attempt at a hybrid laptop/tablet to date. Sony has done a great job with the design of the Vaio Flip, and i personally feel like anyone who is in the market for one of these hybrids should take the time to look into this device. Although pricing for the Flip has not been released yet, as a customer, I’d say it’s definitely worth researching.
