Acer has updated their original Timeline Series by making their newest additions slimmer and lightweight.
Acer says that the M5 Series features “slim, lightweight design, larger displays, all-day battery life, and powerful Intel and Nvidia technologies.”
Acer offers several different options for customers to choose from while selecting their new ultra-thin M5. They can choose between a 14 or a 15.6-inch, widescreen, 1,366-by-768 display screen and a 1.5-GHz, second generation Intel Core i3 or a 2.6-GHz, third generation Intel Core i5 processor.
With the 14-inch Core i3 ultrabook, customers are given 6GB of memory and Intel HD graphics, while those who choose the 16.6-inch Core i5 device are given the option of 4GB of 6GB of memory and Nvidia GeForce graphics.
Acer is definitely living up to the ultrabook standards. The new ultrabooks are a mere 0.81 inches thick and the 14-inch device weighs 4.3 pounds, while the 15.6-inch device comes in at 5.07 pounds.
According to Acer, the new ultrabooks will offer a variety of features including Acer’s “Green Instant On” and “Always Connect” options. These features allow the ultrabook to boot up faster and also provide the restoration of websites, emails, etc. instantly when starting up the computer. According to Acer, the ultrabooks will also have the capability to connect to the Internet in under three seconds.
Other great features include a backlit keyboard, Dolby Home Theater speakers, aluminum alloy encasing with a brushed-metal finish, up to eight hours of battery life and a built-in optical drive. Another very interesting feature that Acer offers is the Intel Anti-Theft Technology. If users purchase a service subscription, they have the ability to remotely disable the ultrabook if it is lost or stolen.
The ultrabooks will come preloaded with Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate, but if users want to have a laptop featuring the soon to be released Windows 8, Acer is giving them the option to pay $14.99 through January 31 to upgrade.
According to Acer, the Aspire Timeline Ultra M5 Series ultrabooks will cost customers anywhere from $680 to $830. The company also said that the ultrabooks will be available online and at select retailers by the end of this month.
