Nvidia has just announced its new notebook GPU, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 580M. This new GPU, which is now available in the Alienware M18x, is said to set new standards when it comes to benchmarks and games and will soon be available in the Alienware M17x notebook with Nvidia Optimus technology.
According to Nvidia’s General Manager of Notebook Products Rene Haas, “The best game support. The best gaming features. The best gaming performance available anywhere. That’s the essence of the GeForce GTX 580M. With power like this, you can turn all the knobs to 11.”
The M18x from Alienware, which is the first laptop to feature the GeForce GTX 580M, offers the option of two GeForce GTX 580M GPUs in one system so you can double your gaming performance via Nvidia SLI technology. The Alienware M17x will also offer the GeForce 580M along with Nvidia Optimus technology. It will also deliver up to 5 hours of battery life in Facebook as well as deliver 100 frames per second (FPS) in Call of Duty: Black Ops.
“Gamers aspire to experience games at their highest settings,” says Product Marketing Manager for Alienware Eddy Goyanes. “Alienware activates the technology designed to enable those aspirations. With the launch of the GeForce GTX 580M on the Alienware M17x, and a dual card option on the M18x, that synergy continues – Alienware delivers the ultimate gaming experience.”
The GeForce GTX 580M GPUs are the fastest Microsoft Direct X 11 notebook GPUs on the market and offer up to six times the tessellation performance of any other notebook GPU out now. They are also more energy efficient with up to 20% better performance per watt than the previous generation.
