Buying replacement tech is never easy. It is ridiculously easy to get sucked into all of the typical gimmicks that many of the top companies are throwing at us. A tablet! A slightly smaller tablet! Another, even smaller tablet! Now don’t take this as bashing on tablets, but more so just bringing to light the gimmicks. Sometimes dealing with the touchscreen on tablets can get annoying. You are essentially working on a larger version of your smartphone, except your tablet doesn’t come included on your phone plan. What ever happened to just have a nice laptop? Nothing to crazy. Just a good, all around andRead More →

Toshiba has released its ultra-high-res laptop the KIRAbook. The Toshiba KIRAbook is for the most part a decent ultrabook. There is no other screen like it in the Windows 8 market. It is thin and light, weighing just  3 pounds.  Toshiba claims the magnesium alloy casing is 90% stronger than the aluminum case of the Macbook Air.  The screen contains 3.7 million pixels. Unfortunately the KIRAbook has a smaller keyboard, and the track pad is less responsive than the Macbook Air. It appears Toshiba is attempting to outdo the Macbook air, but there is a lot to be left wanting. Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-3537U Processor,Read More →

In a surprising turn of events, Lenovo has released official pricing information on its ThinkPad Tablet 2, the same tablet that is expected to be running Windows 8 Pro. This is surprising because PC makers don’t typically release this kind of information on models that have yet to be released, at least not without having a few teeth pulled first. According to the company, the new tablet will have a launch day price scheme of $799 when it comes out on October 26, the same day as the Windows 8 operating system. This price will also include a keyboard, which could tip the balance ofRead More →

According to a statement from Dell’s CEO, touchscreen laptops and tablets launching with the upcoming Windows 8 operating system will have a slightly higher pricetag than the ones without touchscreens. This seems pretty natural, though Dell is planning on offering a full compliment of Windows 8 products as soon as Microsoft releases the OS according to Michael Dell. According to Dell, “The touchscreen Windows 8 products will occupy higher price bands, which could mean higher profit margins for Dell. Unlike other Windows transitions, this is a transition where you are going to need a new PC. Touch capabilities could drive more people to buy WindowsRead More →

According to insider sources, the first wave of Intel-based Windows 8 tablets are expected to hit store shelves this November.
