This is somewhat old news at this point, but MacBook Air rentals might soon become a thing of the past. It is no secret that the MacBook air is an aging design, and the updates brought to the 2016 model were nothing to cheer in the streets about. Unless Apple reveals some grand refresh of the MacBook Air model, MacBook Air’s may be devices of the past for two main reasons. 1.Discontinuation Apple discontinued the 11 Inch MacBook Air last year, which essentially shoots the entire Air lineup in the foot. The appeal of MacBook Air was always the lightweight, sleek design of the device,Read More →

At CES in January, Lenovo was stealing the show with their brand new LaVie Z laptops. These laptops are the result of a collaboration with NEC, and are super light. Everyone in the tech world is talking about them because they are a real competitor to the Apple MacBook and, best of all, they are now available to order. The new laptops from Lenovo are 0.7 inches thick, slightly thicker than the 0.52 inch MacBook. When you put them on a scale though, you see that the Lenovo is actually just bigger in size, actually weighing less than the MacBook. I also don’t think that the extraRead More →

I feel that it’s safe to say that we get way too caught up in the excitement of next generation technology. We tend to see that it is the new model and immediately go crazy for it. Normally this isn’t that big of a deal, but what happens when you have new tech that performs a lot like the last generation model you have at your house? This type of issue doesn’t normally arise for big name tech companies, as they are usually on top of their game. As fate would have it however, our friends over at Apple may need to check on theirRead More →

Let’s face facts. You’d be lying to yourself if you said that you didn’t love some juicy gossip every once in a while. For some this may include something saucy about what of your coworkers around the watercooler. For myself and my fellow techies, we go wild for tech rumors. Hearing about the possibilities of new gadgets and the features that they may include is always a plus for our days. We even go crazy for rumored upgraded models of the tech we already have. What can we say, we like have the the most updated “best of the best”. In case you’re unaware ofRead More →

Toshiba has released its ultra-high-res laptop the KIRAbook. The Toshiba KIRAbook is for the most part a decent ultrabook. There is no other screen like it in the Windows 8 market. It is thin and light, weighing just  3 pounds.  Toshiba claims the magnesium alloy casing is 90% stronger than the aluminum case of the Macbook Air.  The screen contains 3.7 million pixels. Unfortunately the KIRAbook has a smaller keyboard, and the track pad is less responsive than the Macbook Air. It appears Toshiba is attempting to outdo the Macbook air, but there is a lot to be left wanting. Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-3537U Processor,Read More →

In addition to taking a really long time to load on some devices, it appears as if the Mac OS X Mountain Lion upgrade from Apple is causing power problems as well. According to recent reports, Apple is investigating reports of shorter battery life on Mac laptops for customers who have upgraded to Mountain Lion. MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air users started reporting shorter battery life right after Mountain Lion launched on July 25. The longest thread on Apple’s message board started on July 31 and, as of August 6, had over 460 messages that had almost 28,000 views.  Both those numbers are extremelyRead More →

If you were expecting to upgrade to Apple OS X Mountain Lion on your lunch break then you may want to think twice. According to an Apple reseller out of New York, Mountain Lion upgrades can take as little as 13 minutes or as long as nearly an hour. Tekserve, which claims to be “New York’s largest independent Apple store”, timed the upgrade that it installed on multiple Mac desktops and laptops, averaging the times for each model and posting the results in a recent blog post. Mountain Lion costs $19.99 and can be installed on most recent Mac devices running OS X Lion orRead More →

A government officer from Taiwan is warning local PC vendors of a new Apple patent for the MacBook Air that could be used in legal action in an attempt to stop the sales of Ultrabooks from competitive manufacturers. Apple has already tried this tactic on Samsung, attempting to halt sales of the company’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Nexus smartphone. In both cases Apple has successfully halted sales of the devices in the United States. The Cupertino company received a U.S. patent last month for the exterior wedge-like design of its MacBook Air devices. The intellectual property office of Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, though,Read More →

The time has come! Samsung has officially announced its very first device in the Ultrabook category! That’s right, while there are already a bunch of other companies out there that have launched devices set to knock Apple’s MacBook Air off its pedestal, Samsung has been behind. But no more, as the company is ready to throw its hat into the ring. The 13.3″ Series 5 ultrabook measures in at only 14.9mm thin and weighs a mere 3.08 lbs. In addition to that, it is powered by Intel’s Core i5 ULV processor and comes with a 12GB solid state drive or 500GB/16GB HDD/SSD hybrid, depending on what you want.Read More →

Lots of talk has been circulating around Asus’ first ultrabook, the company’s response to the MacBook series of laptops from Apple. But one thing that hasn’t been talked about is the release date, until now. Asus will begin selling its Intel-branded ultrabook with the release of its UX21 ultrathin laptop on October 11, 2011. News of this release date first surfaced when a fancy graphic appeared on the Asus UX series landing page on Monday. The graphic promised a launch event that is supposed to take place in New York City on the 11th. Like I said before, ultrabooks are Intel’s answer to Apple’s highlyRead More →
