At CES in January, Lenovo was stealing the show with their brand new LaVie Z laptops. These laptops are the result of a collaboration with NEC, and are super light. Everyone in the tech world is talking about them because they are a real competitor to the Apple MacBook and, best of all, they are now available to order. The new laptops from Lenovo are 0.7 inches thick, slightly thicker than the 0.52 inch MacBook. When you put them on a scale though, you see that the Lenovo is actually just bigger in size, actually weighing less than the MacBook. I also don’t think that the extraRead More →

A new tablet was just unveiled at CES 2012, this one aimed completely at gamers. That’s right, Razer, which is known for making high quality gaming peripherals, unveiled its latest concept idea at CES 2012, a 10.1″ gaming tablet that comes bundled with dual Hydra-style controllers and the performance of a gaming PC. At the unveiling event, Razer explained that the tablet, dubbed Project Fiona, has a 1,280 x 800 resolution touchscreen display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and features the third-generation Core i7 processor from Intel as well as a three-axis gyroscope, magnetometer and accelerometer that allow for increased mobility. In addition to that, RazerRead More →

When it comes to laptops, NajmTek probably isn’t a name you would think of and it is probably a name you’ve never even heard. That’s because NajmTek is relatively new to the industry. However, just because the company is new doesn’t mean it isn’t bringing anything new to the table. Quite the contrary, actually, as the company is planning on launching a dial-screen laptop at CES 2012. Known as the U-Book (which stands for “Universal Notebook”), this dual-screen device is similar to Acer’s dual-screen Iconia which was announced at last year’s CES 2011. Like the Iconia, the U-Book replaces the physical keyboard with a multi-touch screen.Read More →

All of this “touch” stuff has appeared before the past few years, but it always failed. Before the touch devices of today, the mouse of a computer became a touch item that could be moved around the screen as an icon.Read More →

So I know I’ve been writing quite a bit about a variety of different things that were at the Consumer Electronics Show, but there were so many amazing things that were showcased there that I can’t help but want to share all the awesome new advances in technology that we are going to see here in 2010. In the international section at the CES, you could view the DNB “Dual Net-book.” This netbook features two screens. One screen obviously serves as your normal laptop viewing screen, but the second screen doubles as a keyboard and an extra screen. This extra screen can still perform allRead More →
