Dell Inspiron Mini 12 Notebook Review

  1. The laptop world is closing in on what I think is the sweet spot. We’ve had screen sizes from over 20″ down to 13, then the netbooks came in at 7″ up to 10″. Finally we’re starting to see these 12″ models.

I already have a powerful desktop for my heavy lifting. I want a small, light laptop for everyday work that isn’t for gaming, video editing, or large storage. The netbooks all have one drawback for me – less than full sized keyboards. The larger laptops are too expensive, heavy, large, and have poor battery life.

My minimum sweet spot looks something like this:
    -1.2GHz processor
    -40G storage
    -1G RAM
    -12″ screen 1024 x 768
    -Windows XP
    -Bluetooth
    -Camera
    -Speakers
    -Microphone
    -2 USB
    -WiFi
    -3 lbs
    -4 hours battery life
    – SD card reader
    $600

This Dell Mini 12 comes very close to my desired laptop and I’m very glad to see it enter the market.
